Tour Guide at Tulane University
Class of 2022
Hometown: Houston, TX
Secondary Major: International Development
So far, my favorite class at Tulane is either Creative Writing or International Development. Tulane has a great Creative Writing department, including classes taught by National Book Award winning author Jesmyn Ward. International Development is also a super fun class because it is very interactive despite the large number of students. We also screen movies and have discussions for extra credit!
As a freshman, I've only experienced a handful of festivals so far. However, I am most looking forward to Crawfest. I love trying new foods, and as the Food Capital of the nation, New Orleans has a lot of exciting dishes to offer! I also love all of the music festivals in New Orleans, like VooDoo and Jazz Fest.
I love so many spots in New Orleans! Most of all, I like all of the restaurants in Uptown, including Satsuma, Origami, Camellia Grill, and Morning Call. In fact, one of my favorite memories from Freshman Orientation was catching a ride on the streetcar to get milkshakes from the Milk Bar!
I wanted to challenge myself. I believe that exposing myself to a diverse set of perspectives was essential to my education. In my time at Tulane, I've met people from around the globe, and I've had the opportunity to join clubs as wide-ranging as After-School Newcomb Tutors to the Harry Potter Alliance. . In short, I chose Tulane because I wanted a new, vibrant, open-minded environment to help me grow both as a student and as an individual.
