So far, my favorite class at Tulane is either Creative Writing or Intro to International Development. Tulane has a great Creative Writing department, including classes taught by National Book Award winning author Jesmyn Ward. International Development is also a super fun class because it is very interactive. We get to write a policy proposal and attend on-campus lectures for extra credit.
Jazzfest! This daytime music festival is well-attended by many local New Orleanians, and features great food and live music from a diverse array of bands, from rock music to jazz to indie. I got to see my favorite band, the Head and the Heart, perform last year!
I love so many spots in New Orleans! Most of all, I like all of the restaurants in Uptown, including Satsuma, Origami, Camellia Grill, and Lebanon's. In fact, one of my favorite memories from Freshman Orientation was catching a ride on the streetcar to get milkshakes from the Milk Bar!
I wanted to challenge myself. I believe that exposing myself to a diverse set of perspectives was essential to my education. In my time at Tulane, I've met people from around the world and I've had the opportunity to join clubs as wide-ranging as Reformed University Fellowship to Intramural Volleyball. In short, I chose Tulane because I wanted a new, vibrant, open-minded environment to help me grow both as a student and as an individual.
