I chose Tulane because...
It has such a diverse course selection and niche fields you can explore with flexible pathways. Its location in New Orleans lets you explore such a culturally rich city right nearby the campus, and many organizations and opportunities here allow you to directly make an impact on the people living here and integrate yourself.
My favorite NOLA festival is...
Bookfest! There are many famous authors that come to give talks at panels, and it all happens right on our uptown campus. I've met Tara Westover, the author of Educated, and gotten a copy of her book signed. There are many other fun activities to do during Bookfest, and it takes place over a few days so you have many opportunities to do so.
My favorite spots in New Orleans are...
City Park, Audubon Park, and Magazine Street. I play mini golf at City Park all the time with my friends and love to walk around to see the different plants and museums there! Audubon Park is right next to campus and is a super pretty place perfect for going on walks, runs, or birdwatching next to the lake. Magazine Street has a ton of unique stores and restaurants that I still haven't gotten to explore fully, but I enjoy walking down there and discovering new niche places.
Favorite Tulane class/professor...
I'm currently taking a course called War: Tragedy and Statistics and it became one of my favorites because of the interesting topics we discuss in weekly seminars, whether that be about the true cost of war, the trends of wars throughout the decades, and how it connects to contemporary politics. It's a challenging but rewarding class!
