Among the numerous academic and service opportunities, Tulane offers a community like no other. I ultimately chose Tulane because by the second time I visited campus I felt at home. Those who were on campus during my tours truly made me feel as if I belonged here. Their enthusiasm was palpable, they were happy to be there and they were even happier that you wanted to be there as well.
My favorite Tulane professor would have to be Dr. Donata Henry. I took Dr. Henry's EBio 1010/Diversity of Life class the fall semester of my Sophomore year and she was an incredible professor. I struggled through my Freshman year and lost interest in science. However, Dr. Henry helped revitalize my passion for science and reminded me why I wanted to pursue a degree in science.
While of course Mardi Gras is one of my favorite NOLA Festivals, a less well known and personal favorite of mine is French Quarter Fest. French Quarter Fest is held in the Spring each year along the banks of the Mississippi River. The festival hosts several local food vendors, including the infamous Plum Street Snowballs, live music performances, and small business owners.
Having grown up in the Greater New Orleans Area, I have several favorite spots in NOLA. I adore City Park and the surrounding area. From the park itself, to Bayou St. John, to the Lakefront, and even my family’s spot for Endymion on Orleans Ave. across from the park. I also love Magazine St. every time I'm able to visit it I discover a new store or restaurant that captures my heart.
