Film Analysis with Professor Kai-Man Chang
As a senior in high school choosing which college to commit to, I had a number of factors to consider. I wanted to attend a university with a small student population. I knew I would thrive under individual attention, and with an undergraduate size of roughly 8000 students, Tulane University caught my eye. It was the perfect place to build stronger connections with my professors. Additionally, due to the size of the school, there were a plethora of leadership opportunities available that larger schools cannot provide. The campus was stunning: walkable paths, evergreen trees, uniquely-designed buildings, and gorgeous architecture. I understood that environmental wellness was an important factor in my success, so Tulane was at the top of my list. My top priority, however, was my education. I sought an institution that was well-known for multiple fields of academics, as there was a chance I could decide to switch my major. Tulane has phenomenal programs for liberal arts, the premed track, business, architecture, and the sciences. I felt as though the institution would be a good choice because it would prepare me to handle the real world as an adult. Now that I am a junior who has received multiple opportunities here to pursue job/internships, I can say I made the right choice. Lastly, I chose Tulane for the healthy work-life balance it offered. With over 200 clubs/organizations, there is something pleasurable for each and every student to partake in. I chose to focus my time in multicultural cubs, community service organizations, and premed/neuroscience organizations. Through events hosted by said organizations, I met peers who shared common interests with me. The lively nature of the school made it easy for me to make social plans with my peers, strengthening our sense of community. For this reason, I found that instead of facing intense competition, my classmates were amicable and instead offered to help each other through tough college courses.
